EKCEP Teleworks Success: Man Finds Dream Remote Job After Struggling with Scams
Finding a legitimate job online can feel overwhelming, especially when scams lurk on popular job sites. For William Younce, Teleworks USA was the unexpected gateway to a life-changing opportunity.
"I first heard about the career center and Teleworks on Facebook," Younce shared. "There was a post about how they helped people in our region find remote jobs, and I knew I had to check it out."
An initiative of Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP), Teleworks USA identifies and develops legitimate remote-work job opportunities and helps connect job seekers with available remote-work positions. The frustration and fear that had built up after encountering numerous scam postings ultimately pushed Younce to reach out to a teleworks career advisor at the LKLP Kentucky Career Center in Perry County.
"There were so many scams on traditional job-seeking websites that I was afraid to even apply for a position,” he said “I worried about someone trying to steal my identity."
Younce’s career journey took a significant turn when Ricky Griffie, a teleworks career advisor at LKLP, responded. Griffie helped Younce enroll for services and assisted him through the process of identifying and applying for remote-work jobs through Teleworks USA’s online jobs listing.
“Ricky became my career advisor and went to work immediately, finding reputable hiring companies and guiding me through the application process,” Younce said
Before Teleworks USA, Younce worked at a local call center, which had undergone multiple ownership changes before eventually canceling their contract. Griffie’s work through Teleworks USA made the transition to a new job effortless.
Thanks to Teleworks, Younce is now a Service Representative with Sutherland Global, a premier digital transformation partner for iconic brands worldwide. In this role, he supports Enbridge Gas of Ohio, helping deliver essential services to customers across the state.
“The career center eased the transition by removing the risk and worry of finding a new job,” Younce explained.
Beyond job searching, the career center provided critical services to help strengthen Younce’s application. Griffie helped him build a stronger, more thorough resume that would stand out to employers and showcase his skills and experience
"I would recommend the career center to anyone looking for a safe, fast, and easy way to secure a remote career,” Younce said “If you’re hesitant, do yourself a favor and reach out now. You won’t regret it. The experience has boosted my career search and opened up worldwide opportunities that I wouldn’t have found on my own."
